ProctorU Information for Baton Rouge

ProctorU Information Page for Contingency Remote Teaching

LSU Testing and Evaluation Services will be communicating with faculty regarding the process for exams to be administered remotely via ProctorU via email. ProctorU is the only university-approved proctoring service at this time.

Alternatives to Online Proctoring

Due to the volume of course assessments to move online there will be limited scalability for vendors such as ProctorU. It will not be possible to continue to administer the same number of tests as usual. Please consider the following alternative assessment options in order to reduce the number of assessments administered in ProctorU. More information about alternative assessments can be found within the Faculty Guide for Remote Teaching page under the Modify Assessments and Activities Section by clicking Alternative Assessment Considerations.

For LSU Campus Courses

This page contains information about using ProctorU online proctoring services for LSU campus courses during this contingency period of fully online instruction (starting 3/12/2020). This service allows students to complete course exams at any location while still ensuring the academic integrity of the exam for the institution. Using a webcam and audio capability, students can take exams in a conducive environment and where they have reliable internet access.

  • Test-taker first and last name
  • Test-taker's ProctorU email address
  • All testing accommodations listed on the student's accommodation letter      (See below for the general list of testing accommodations.)
  • The name of the exam(s) that the accommodations will cover

Once your exam is approved, you may send your students a direct link to ensure that they select the correct exam. To do this, open your exam record by clicking on the exam name in ProctorU. In the top section, called “Profile,” click on the Open Invite icon to copy the URL:

Open invite icon highlighted

You may then paste the URL into your Moodle course site or in direct email communication to students.

Menus and Reporting

To find information about your students’ test-taking activities, click on the menu items to see scheduled exams, session data for exams that are pending or have already been taken, user information, and reports. Explore these items to track your students’ activity. Looking at exam sessions, including recordings and chat records, can provide valuable information when investigating possible academic integrity concerns.

Academic Misconduct

In the case of a suspected academic integrity concern, ProctorU will flag the incident and issue an incident report, which is sent to the person listed as the contact in the exam information. You can then investigate the report by reviewing exam session data.

If you receive an incident report, and after review, believe there is a possible academic integrity concern, you will need to report the incident to Student Advocacy & Accountability for a possible violation of the LSU Code of Student Conduct. For information on this process, review the page Understanding Academic Integrity at LSU Student Advocacy & Accountability. Use the Academic Misconduct Reporting Form to report any possible violations of the LSU Code of Student Conduct.
